Tonight, after stage managing a One Day Play (written, rehearsed and performed all within 24 hours), and celebrating the new year with my theater family, I am sitting at home, alone, and very happy… at this for this second.
Because right now, I know this is who I am. And I know who I am. And I adore who I am.
I am a warrior.
I am an artist.
I am a director.
I am a filmmaker.
I am a writer.
I am a girl.
I am a hard case.
I am a sentimental fool.
I am someone who loves deeply and passionately and wantonly.
I am a woman.
And I am more than enough. I am full and I am happy. I need nothing and no one tonight because I know exactly who I am and what I am.
And what I am is amazing.
And if I can’t find someone who can appreciate how amazing I am and if I can’t find someone who wants to share his amazing with me, then I’m fine just sitting here, by myself, being amazing.
Because, for once in my life, I don’t feel like I’m lacking in something, that I am somehow not good enough or strong enough or something enough.
I am enough. I am exactly who I need to be, right now, in this moment.
And I hope to carry this sense of me into the new year and beyond, to continue to build this beautiful, complicated, astonishing life I have built.
I can’t wait to see where I go next.
